Price:
1 to 10 (10 being the most expensive
price range)
Located in the El Dorado area & directly
behind TGI Fridays in El Dorado, this location is out of the way for the
business traveler that wants to be close to the banking & business
district. Aside from that, a reasonably priced and clean “American
Style” accommodation. For the traveler that wishes to be closer to
the center of town, there are equally priced and better locations. We found
the staff to be fairly attentive, but not the same level of service found
at the Radisson.
Located on a quiet side street off Via Espana,
we can suggest the Marbella as a budget alternative to the Hotel Panama
or Continental. At $ 35 per night for a standard room & $ 44
for a King sized bed, the hotel is small but clean. Certainly within walking
distance to Dreams Disco, Manolos Café, Hotel Panama, Hotel Continental
and other spots on Via Espana. Do not expect four stars, but for
the money it is a decent and inexpensive place to stay.
Located on Isla Grande, The Bananas Resort
is our favorite place to stay in the Isla Grande Area. The resort
is fairly new & Modern. With a nice swimming pool & beach area,
if offers a nice weekend get-a-way from Panama City. Located on the
Atlantic or Caribbean side, figure on about a 2 hour drive from Panama
City. Prices go for about $ 200 for the weekend including meals.
Do not expect any raging nightlife as you are somewhat secluded on the
island. Only gripes are the small rowboats with outboards needed
to get to and from the resort (wear your old clothes for the boat ride
to and from). Otherwise the best establishment in the Isla Grande
area and for the money, a nice and quiet place to go.
Located in the Playa Coronado area, a very
upscale and nice weekend get-a-way. Keep in mind that Playa Coronado
is the weekend spot for many of the wealthier Panamanians. For this
reason, expect to pay accordingly. The resort does run some nice
specials and it is possible to get a weekend for $ 275 with meals.
Considering the resort has 18 hole golf, tennis. swimming pool & spa
facilities, a weekend stay at this
Located in Marbella and convenient to the
banking district, one of the best bets for the business traveler.
We found the front desk service to be excellent. Our only complaint
is the service in the retaurant for breakfast. Otherwise, we would
highly suggest the Radisson for it's location and facilities. Great
pool and Sauna!
Located on the quaint island of Taboga, the
hotel can be reached via a Comfortable one hour ferry ride from Panama
City. The ferry ride itself covers part of the canal and passes the
causeway. We found the grounds to be nice, but the facilities run
down. We would not suggest an overnight stay. Instead, make
a day trip out to the island and use the facilites. The hotel has
a special deal whereby you pay $ 10 or $ 15 for the day and receive the
same amount in "play" or credit money for food and beverage purchases.
Is essence, you end up paying nothing extra if you have lunch or drinks.
Plus you get to use the facilities. We found the beach to be somewhat
dirty (not the fault of the hotel as this is common for the Pacific side
to see much washed up material on the beaches). The pool is nice
and there are comfortable tables under grass shelters. A nice day
trip.
Located across from the convention center,
certainly the most
Well, what can we say about Aparthotel Las
Vegas. These guys are all over the internet, but then again they
have to be. We found the facilities run down and a waste of time.
For the money, we would suggest Hotel Marbella at $35 per night or better
yet, go directly across the street to Hotel Torre Alba for a real aparthotel
at $75 per night (complete with full kitchen & washing machine). The
only thing we like about LasVegas is the restaurant which features an off
the street open-air center courtyard.
If you looking for a full service hotel with
a casino, great bar, club, the whole nine yards, we would rank the Continental
at par with Hotel Panama. If $ 180 plus per night is your range
and you want to be on top of pretty much everything, we can suggest the
Panama or Continental. Certainly, in our opinion, we think these
two hotels are a better value for the money than the Miramar Inter-Continental
which is isolated over on Avenida Balboa.
If you are looking for something more than
just a hotel room, we can Suggest Hotel Torre Alba. With a complete
kitchen, separate living and dining area, washing machine plus dryer, your
stay at Torre Alba is complete and comfortable. The hotel has a small,
but relaxing swimming pool as well. Located directly behind hotel
Panama, the location is perfect for the business traveler planning on being
in Panama for more than one week. We would suggest you ask for the
corporate rate, which is about $75 per night. Extended stays of one
month will bring the rates down to the $ 65 range.
